WILLIS SHORTLINE RAILROAD INC.
===============================

A Short Memory: Date: Sun, 5 Jan 2003 21:56:52 EST Subject: WS - 2-6-0 #200 Dear Sirs: I have viewed the article and photograph with much interest and pride. I was the owner of #200 during the time it was switching sand and gravel cars at Franklinton and Enon, La. This old engine served us well and I wish it could still be here for rail fans to enjoy. I bought this locomotive from a sugar cane plantation and moved it to Franklinton, towed by T&P and GM&O via New Orleans. Later I sold this engine to the Chicago Railroad museum. At the time I had no idea it would be destroyed by a cutting torch and scrapped. Yours truly, H. J. Willis, Pres. Willis Shortline Railroad, Inc.

Image, Willis Shortline RR 4-6-0, Enon, LA Order No. WS200I Photograph from the original Paul Eilenburger Collection This Paul Eilenberger shot of Willis Shortline Railroad Company Incorporated ten-wheelerlocomotive #200 was taken about 1958. Ironically the aggregate company had not accquired the engine until 1955. It continued in use by the Company at Enon, Louisiana for another eight years before it was finally scrapped in 1963. Altogether it would see well over 70 years of service. form its Baldwin beginnings in August of 1889 as a Texas & Pacific Class D-5 2-6-0 until its end it would wear #200.
