WABASH RAILWAY COMPANY (WB)
===============================

Notes: The company found its roots clear back in 1837 when the oldest part of its railroad was chartered as the Northern Cross railroad. Operating under various names from 1877 to 1915 the company finally settled down into the massive eastern line it would become. The Wabash Railway was incorporated October 22, 1915. to take over the property and assets of the former Wabash Railroad which it purchased at forclosure sale on July 21, 1915. From this point the line would again find itself in forclosure December 31, 1930, coming out in October 14, 1943. The Company would go on to be controlled by the Pennsylvania Company (Railroad) until it was sold to the Norfolk & Western in 1964. In 1982 the Norfolk Southern began operations over former Wabash track. See one of the many books written on the company for more detailed and imformative information.
