YESYERYEAR DEPOT COLLECTION

TEXAS & NEW ORLEANS RR COMPANY
================================

Reference Note: The locomotives found here are, for the most part, those engines of the parent Southern Pacific assigned to the Texas & New Orleans subsidiary/division/southern system, depending on time period. Likewise, they may be those Southern Pacific locomotives formally assigned to T&NO operations but are seen here in system wide numbers. Historical Note: The Central Pacific management were originally in corporate control of many early railroads in Texas and Louisiana. In 1885 through a lease agreement control was transfered to the Southern Pacific. As Texas and Louisianna grew so did those companies. In 1934 a group of 14 of those companies, including the former T&NO, and all controlled by the Southern Pacific, were merged into the Texas & New Orleans for better corporate efficiency. In 1961 the T&NO was merged into the parent company. To those who grew up around the Texas & New Orleans it was a large comcern. When compared to the rest of the Southen Pacific System however it was only a small portion of the whole.
