Historical Snapshot: * Incorporated by an act of Congress March 3,1871 and amended May 2, 1872. During this period and shortly thereafter they acquired the Southern Pacific of Texas, the Southern Trans-Continental Railway, The Memphis, El Paso and Pacific Railroad, and the New Orleans Pacific Railway Company. * June 30, 1916: The Texas & Pacific reported 1,944 miles of main line operation between New Orleans Louisiana and and El Paso, Texas. Also listed were several short branch lines and 92 miles of trackage rights. Further the company was operating 315 locomotives, 213 passenger cars and 11,408 freight cars over that track. * August of 1924: The Texas & Pacific had recently gone into bamkruptsy: Though the process was long and involved The Missouri Pacific took over their mortgage and purchased all their preferred stock. Thus, the Texas & Pacific continued as its own entity though controlled by the Missouri Pacific. * 1941: In most respects the company was approxinately the same as in 1924. Even to the extent of being controlled by Missouri Pacific. * Merged into Missouri Pacific on October 18, 1976.
