Snapshot History: Sterling Mountain Railway Co. The S.M. Rwy. Co. of New Jersey, with roots back to 1865, was a little mountain short line which ran from Sterling Jct. To Lakeview on Sterling Lake. It made coonnections with the Erie at Sterling Junction. Today, much of the old line is a hiking trail. Various photographs in the public domain show a second 2-6-0 and at least one passenger car.
