Historical Note: San Manuel Arizona Railway * Incorporated September 29, 1953 by its owners the Magma Copper Company. The San Manuel Arizona Railway operated until June of 1999. At that time the Magma Copper Company mine and smelter it served out of San Manuel was closed. Thus, the railroad ceased operations and has not reopened since. * The line was 29.4 miles in length between Haydon (Winkleman), the Southern Pacific interchange point, all in Arizona.
