SAN FRANCISCO & NORTH PACIFIC

Begun in 1870, the San Francisco & North Pacific would be the primary shipper of materials from the California communities north of San Francisco Bay. It would include ferry service, commuters, and freight connections to other local lines, It would play a major part in the growth and expansion of the San Franciso Bay Area. Later, it would become part of the NorthWestern Pacific, much of which exists to this day under Union Pacific control.
