NEVADA COPPER BELT RAILROAD

NCB 2-8-0 #2 Image, former Nevada Copper Belt 2-8-0 #2 Order No. NCB02I Mason, Nevada, November 11, 1960. Though the Nevada Copper Belt Railroad had been closed for some time, 2-8-0 Locomotive #2 was still in use for switching service. -------------------- NCB 2-8-0 #3 Image, former Nevada Copper Belt 2-8-0 #3 Order No. SRR24I Sierra Railroad heavy 2-8-0 locomotive #24 poses at sunset, as stalwart as ever, at Jamestown, California. This 163,000 pound locomotive, with it's 50" drivers, was the largest of all the Sierra's many Baldwin Consolidated's. It weighed over 20,tons more than the next largest 2-8-0. Built originally for the Nevada Copper Belt in 1912 as their #3, it was acquired in 1921. -------------------- NCB 2-8-0 #5 Photo, Nevada Copper Belt 2-8-0 #5 Order No. NCB05P Photograph by: Fred C. Stoes For many years this nice little 2-8-0 #5 worked the Nevada Copper Belt Railway out to its Southern Pacific connection at Wabuska. Wabuska was on the Hazen to Tonapah Junction standard gauge branch, originally the old narrow gauge Carson & Colorado line. Shortly after this photo was taken the locomotive, in 1947, went to the Virginia & Truckee and became their No. 5.
