Snapshot History: * The Minneapolis & St. Louis RR Company was originally incorporated on July 1, 1916 as a consolidation of the of the Minneapolis & St. Louis of Iowa and Minnesota and the Iowa Central & Western Railway. * As of July 1, 1916 the company operated its trains over 1,646.47 miles of main line. Of that 1,500.81 miles were owned, leased - 36.6 miles, trackage rights - 109 miles. The company also reported owning 218 locomotives, 129 passenger cars, and 7,942 freight cars. * Company fell into forclosure on July 1, 1923 for failure to pay for locomotive repairs to the Minneapolis Steel and Machinery Company. Receivers were assigned. From then until the early 1940's the company would remain in forclosure. No matter what plans were put forth to the ICC everything kept being rejected. The company was making money in that many bonds and other debt was able to be retired. * November 1, 1960 merged into Chicago & North Western with C&NW taking over the debt.
