COLORADO & SOUTHERN RAILWAY
STANDARD GUAGE - BURLINGTON LINES
===================================
Note: Chartered on December 19, 1898, the C&S was organized to take over several narrow and standard guage faultering lines because of economic conditions of the time. Most were primarily in Colorado. By 1908, when the C&S was purchased by James Hill/Chicago, Burlington & Quincy, it had extended into Oklahoma, New Mexico, Wyoming and Texas. Though controlled by the Burlington, it would continue to maintain its own corporate identitiy until 1981, well after the Burlington Northern Merger. Though most of these views have Burlington motive power, they were shot on C&S controlled lines. The Fort Worth & Denver Railway is not included as, while it was also a C&S/Burlington property, it was also a large entity unto itself.
