Stoes A strange set of power and consist appear on this Burlington Route unknown Zephyr arriving at Riverside, Illinois in the summer of 1949. Note that two cars back from the E5 engine one of the 9900 series Zephyrs seems to be tucked in the middle. Some say there is even a second 9900 with train after that? "This is an image of the westbound Nebraska Zephyr Train No. 11. The usual 7-car articulated consist has been amplified today with two pre-war Budd coaches tucked in behind the E5 and just ahead of the articulated set. If one of the EMC EA B-units had been added, it would have immediately followed the E5 so that the Multiple Unit (MU) control wiring could have been connected. What appears to be a shovelnose unit following the two coaches is actually the power/baggage/lounge car." ...
