=================================

Snapshot History: Alabama & Western Florida On April 30, 1903, The Birmingham, Columbus & St. Andrews Railroad Company was incorporated in Florida and Alabama to build a 200-mile line from St, Andrews Bay Florida to Columbus,Georgia. By September 26, 1926, when it was succeeded through forclosure by the Alabama, & Western Florida Railroad Company, it had grown to only 38 miles in length. Extending from Chipley to Greenhead, Florida, The A. & W. F. owned 19.25 miles of track and had trackage rights over 18.75 miles. In addition, it had 3.97 more miles of yard track, spurs and sidings. As it began anew it did so with one combine, three passenger cars, three box cars and one flat car. As of 1930 the A.& W.F. locomotive and equipment rosters reported two locomotives and 40 passenger and freight cars. Main line rail was 70 pound. On October 1, 1939, having to struggle through the depression years, the Alabama & Western Florida abandoned its hopeless dream and sold what was left for scrap. Another steam locomotive was the #14. The B. C. & St. A also listed having a #5.
