Historical Snapshot: * Incorporated June 22, 1892. First portion to serve the logging business opend in the same year. After the end of logging Line completed to Fayetteville 1913. 1931 - Line extended 1.5 miles to Cape Fear to make water connections. * 1941 - Aberdeen to Fayetteville, North Carolina, 46.92 mi., 8.04 miles spurs, sidings and yards. Three locomotives (steam), 3-passenger cars, one caboose. * First diesel locomotives, 1947, EMD F3's #200 and #201 * Active as of 1986 with three diesel engines (EMD - GP7 #205, GP18 #300 and GP38 #400.) 146 50-ft. box cars, 25 gondola's. * 1987 - Acquired the 15-mile former CSX (abandoned) McCoil to Marlboro branch in South Carolina (known as the Pee Dee River Subsidiary. Service started with a used AT&SF CF7. Today it has expanded to a 7-day-a-week freight operation including four GP16's and a diesel switcher servicing Weyerhaeuser at five different locations.
